Located at a distance of 1 km from the Golden Temple, this public ground acts reminds the history, where 2000 Indians were aimlessly shot by the British under the command of General Dyer on April 13, 1919. The story of the incident is clearly narrated in Martyr’s Gallery where a portion of the wall with bullet marks is still preserved. A memorial well is also present where some people jumped to escape the awful mass destruction. Later in the year 1951, a memorial was established here in the honor of the massacre.
4. Durgiana Temple
Dedicated to Maa Durga, Durgiana Temple is a significant Hindu Temple in Amritsar. It is around 1.5 km from the Golden Temple and looks like a replica of the same. Gobindgarh Fort is formerly popular as Bhangian ka Kila, Gobindgarh Fort wasunderthe control of army since 1849. It was built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh. A huge Toshakhana was constructed in the middle to store grains and provisions for the Maharaja’s army. Architecturally, Gobindgarh Fort is constructed using lime and brick in a square pattern and has two gates, four ramparts along with the main entrance named as Nalwa Gate. 7. Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum
This is a summer palace converted into a museum.
